EMS Photography » Portrait Photographer from Hampton Roads

On any given day, as a photographer, I am thumbing through hundreds of photos by great photographers, getting prepared for upcoming shoots.  Making lasting memories takes time and effort.  It takes a combination of many things including all everything you have stored in your memory as art.  The poems, the light, the sounds.  All of this is vital to creating something special for your clients.  Therefore, I usually spend about 6 to 8 hours preparing for a shoot.

On a warm sunny afternoon, I met with this incredible Mom and her hubby to get photo’s.  Not only is she a great mother already.  Due to mom being an active duty military member, she is extra awesome!  #navy  #military  #photographer It was easy getting the most awesome and kick ass results as she is so photogenic.  My MUA-Sara Bell, did a beautiful job on makeup and hair.  The light was perfect and we were able to utilize the entire 2 hours getting photos.  As a result, I got so many that it took a while to cull and edit them.

After the process was complete of post processing-I showed Mom the results. In addition, can you say tears of joy?  In conclusion, she and her family loved every single photo and they are planning on making a huge purchase of fine wall art.  This is the outcome we all strive for.  Elated clients are a present to us.  As a photographer, you want to see smiles and love!  Therefore, not only in the photo’s but on the faces viewing the results.

Mom is an active duty military member.  Hence, she gets the usual military discount I always give.  Consequently,  it’s a way to return the love for all the sacrifices our military makes.  The months of separation, the many duty nights and sometimes the ultimate sacrifice.  Giving back is the least I can do.

As a Hampton Roads Family Photographer, I was excited to capture a military family!  First of all, they were a gorgeous couple.  And the baby was just adorable! Due to the limited time with the sun, we got to the shoot right away! As a result, we were able to capture some golden hues.

While I shot Mom and Dad, my grandpa hubby kept an eye on the little bundle.   Therefore all the shots of her were her looking right at me!  That is quite the opposite of lots of babies!  Most noteworthy, she did not cry once during the entire time!  Furthermore, she had such a sweet disposition!

Especially relevant to this shoot-both parents are active duty and not stationed in the same place.  As a result, it was a reunion of the hearts for them to be together.  Maybe that is why they were smiling the entire time.  In addition to their happiness, they were just the sweetest couple ever. It was probably due to them just being such great people, honestly very thankful.

Consequently, the shoot went off without a hitch.  In conclusion I was able to get some awesome photos for them.  Therefore, all the shots I got were great, and that makes editing easy.  Hence the photos were ready the next day!  Most noteworthy was my gratitude to them for their service to our county and the difficult task of separations.  But most of all, it’s always an honor to give back to those who sacrifice.  That made this Hampton Roads Family Photographer very happy!  Yet, I still had a tear in my eyes, knowing they had to continue to endure living apart for a while.  As a former military wife, I know that hardship and it always adds stress.  Thank God for our wonderful men and women in uniform!

It’s a pleasure being a Hampton Roads Maternity Photographer.  My job allows me to meet some incredible people on the journey of their life, becoming parents.   It  This was the case when this gorgeous couple called.  Getting photo’s of the “baby bump” was very exciting for both the parents.

I met this twosome over coffee.  The chemistry between them was self evident immediately.  Hannah was due soon.   We talked a bit about where to shoot and decided on several locations in Portsmouth.  The “baby bump” was coming soon, so we schedule pretty quickly.  Grandma was here from Brazil and she was excited to be part of the adventure of taking photos!

For the first shoot we chose Olde Town Portsmouth for it’s historical beauty.  I cannot say enough about all the beautiful buildings in Olde Towne that date back to the 1800’s.  The couple was enjoying wandering around, and we found several ideal locations!   There are so many options in Olde Town for backdrops.  I love also, just wandering around and seeing how the couples I shoot lend a picture perfect frame for what I want to capture!  We set off on our journey and found several locations very quickly.  They are a beautiful couple so getting gorgeous photo’s was really not any problem at all!

After I photographed in several different locations in Olde Town we decided to add in another location.  So off we went to Portsmouth City Park.  The sun was out that day and the colors were gorgeous!  I love the versatility of Portsmouth and the many locations here.  There is always a place to get great photo’s and honestly, when you have great subjects to capture, any background is good!  Being a Hampton Roads Maternity Photographer has given me the opportunity to shoot at numerous incredible locations!

As a Portsmouth Virginia Family Photographer, I’m always happy to create memories for families!  Many times I find myself looking at photo’s from my childhood and the incredible memories I have of times gone by.  So for me, it’s giving a tangible piece of your life back to you to hold on to when I get to take family pictures.

I knew this family from church.  They are just adorable and so is the little angel that looks just like her Daddy!  They are busy parents, both with professional jobs, and so when they took time to have photo’s done, I wanted it to be special for them.  Grandma makes dresses for this precious little girl.  I suspect she’ll have a closet full if she does not already!  I’ve always noticed how adorable she looks and even though she’s close to the ground, she’s never dirty!  Unlike my grandchildren, who seem to attract dirt!

As with all clients, I meet with them to discuss what they were looking for in the shoot and what kinds of memories they would like to make sure I get for them.  We talked about location and decided we would stay close to where they live.  And actually that works out well since I live close by them.

As you can see, the little angel was dressed up!  She was ready to go and I just let her run.  Part of what I love with children’s shoots is capturing them doing what they do naturally.  I love candid shots that bring out the real essence of the individual child.  I watched as she ran around and gave her time to tire a little.  Then I sit in the grass and shoot away while she plays and ignores me!  I did also take photo’s of the three of them together.  Anytime you have such an adorable family, you want to capture as much as possible for them!

I’d love as a Portsmouth Virginia Family Photographer to capture special moments for you as well!

EMS Photography is a Hampton Roads Couples Photographer serving the entire Hampton Roads area including the Peninsula, Yorktown and Williamsburg.

A young woman who serves in our military had given me a call to schedule a shoot as she was leaving for a year long deployment.   Therefore, we set up a time to meet to make sure we were a good match and to schedule the shoot!

I meet the couple at a favorite local coffee shoppe!  Hence, where else would you meet someone?  Because I can drink coffee all day and still sleep at night!  While they ordered their drinks, I got all the paperwork together and was excited to talk to this couple!  As a result we started with getting to know each other and select a location.  This couple was very easy to talk to and wonderful to get to know!  Therefore, having been a military wife, I fully understood the reason they wanted photo’s while she was deployed!

Especially relevant was my decision to go to Ghent in Norfolk to do our first shoot with the couple. Therefore, I love the old and huge gorgeous old homes and buildings in that area.  They lend beautiful backdrops for any kind of shoot. As a result, I was able to get some gorgeous photos! Exactly what I would expect from a gorgeous couple!

The following weekend, we went to Fort Monroe on the Peninsula to do the second shoot.  The light was perfect and everything was great except the wind!  It was January and the wind was whipping which made all of us very cold.  While I shivered doing the shoot, this brave couple never faltered and smiled the entire time.  As cold as it was, their faces might have actually been frozen in those beautiful smiles!  Most of all being a Hampton Roads Couples Photographer is an awesome gig!
